Open Fiber 10 GB in Molise
Rome, March 8. – Molise, the first region in Italy to complete the BUL (Ultra-Broadband) plan promoted by MIMIT for FTTH coverage and implemented by Open Fiber, will be able to benefit from an even higher connection. This is the innovation brought by the “Molise at 10 Giga” project, presented on February 28 at the Dimensione Srl headquarters in Campobasso, as part of the events related to the inauguration of the Samnium Innovation Hub. A dynamic ecosystem designed to offer a network of services to students, startups, entrepreneurs, and companies, the new 2000 sq m space was born from the vision of Dimensione’s Founder and CEO, Roberto Padulo. What is the objective of Dimensione’s project? By 2026, to ensure uniform 10Gbit/s service throughout the Molise territory, thanks to Open Fiber’s extensive fiber optic network and the expertise of technological partner ZTE, a global leader in the sector. With the “Molise at 10 Giga” project, ultra-fast connectivity reaches over 136,000 Molise residents, and aims to accelerate the provision of the ultra-fast network across the entire regional territory. In addition to the regional capital Campobasso, the municipalities of Isernia, Termoli, Bojano, Montenero di Bisaccia, Baranello, Ferrazzano, Mirabello Sannitico, Ripalimosani, Santa Croce di Magliano, Petacciato, Campochiaro, and Vinchiaturo can immediately activate 10 Gbit/s connectivity services – up to 100 times faster than a fiber-copper mixed connection. In the long term, the project aims to transform the Molise region into a Smart Land, a territory capable of ensuring better economic, social, and environmental conditions for the benefit of citizens, businesses, and institutions. From large centers to small municipalities, Dimensione’s goal is to bridge the digital divide in Molise, bringing ultra-fast connections to every corner of the region, which will now travel at the speed of 10 Giga. To achieve these objectives, Dimensione continues its collaboration with Open Fiber and ZTE, to offer users increasingly fast, intelligent, and reliable browsing experiences and create a digitally connected future. Regarding the deep synergy underlying the project, Giada Cosentino, Chief Innovation Officer and Technical Marketing Director of ZTE Italia, stated: “We are excited to have participated in the ‘Molise at 10 Giga’ project, providing our know-how and cutting-edge technologies to accelerate the spread of ultra-fast connectivity in a region rich in opportunities like Molise.” A vision shared by Roberto Padulo, Founder and CEO of Dimensione, who commented: “Our partnership with major companies like Open Fiber and ZTE demonstrates that great projects can also be born here in Molise. We hope that this initiative will contribute to making Molise a true Smart Land.” The importance of collaboration was also reiterated by Giuseppe Socci, COO and CTO of Dimensione: “We have chosen the best technologies on the market for this project. Open Fiber, with its fiber infrastructure, allows us to guarantee widespread coverage in the territory, ZTE to offer 10Gbps today and support up to 50Gbps with 50G-PON.” Mauro Accroglianò, Residential Market Director of Open Fiber, recalled Open Fiber’s mission to “create a fiber optic infrastructure available to all operators, thus ensuring maximum market competitiveness and offering the possibility for citizens and businesses to access the best digital services. In Molise, we have completed the BUL plan in 130 small municipalities and invested in the main centers: Campobasso, Termoli, and Isernia.” With the “Molise at 10 Giga” project, the region not only advances towards cutting-edge connectivity but also proposes itself as an example of digital innovation. Thanks to the collaboration between Dimensione, Open Fiber, and ZTE, Molise becomes a more connected and competitive territory, ready to offer growth opportunities for citizens, businesses, and startups. A first step towards the Smart Land of the future.
